Ingredients
  

  • 1 can apple pie filling 21 ounce
  • 1 box yellow cake mix 15.25 ounce
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup caramel topping or sauce

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit if baking, or lightly grease a 6-quart slow cooker insert.
  • Spread the apple pie filling evenly across the bottom of your baking dish or slow cooker insert.
  • Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the apple filling. Do not stir.
  • Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the dry cake mix layer.
  • Pour the caramel topping over the butter layer. Again, do not stir.
  • For Oven Baking: Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  • For Slow Cooker: Cook on low for 3 to 4 hours or on high for 1.5 to 2 hours, until set.
  • Let the cake cool slightly before serving warm, preferably with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

You can substitute the yellow cake mix with white or butter flavor for slight variations. If you prefer a thicker caramel layer, use slightly more than one cup of topping. For a richer flavor, use salted butter.
