Black Forest Trifle
A delicious Black Forest Trifle made with layers of chocolate cake, cherry pie filling, pudding, and whipped cream.

- 1 9x13 inch chocolate cake or brownie baked according to package directions or homemade recipe
- 30 ounces cherry pie filling store bought or homemade
- 4 ounces kirsch or cherry brandy or any cherry liqueur or amaretto, use cherry juice for non alcoholic version
- 2 boxes chocolate pudding 90 grams each, prepared according to directions
- 1.5 cups cold heavy whipping cream or double cream
- 2-4 tablespoons powdered sugar (15-30 grams)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- fresh cherries for garnish
- shaved chocolate for garnish
- chocolate sprinkles for garnish
- icing sugar or cocoa powder for dusting
Bake chocolate cake according to package directions or homemade recipe.
Cool completely. Cut cake into 1” cubes.
Prepare pudding as directed or using homemade recipe and allow to cool.
Prepare whipped cream by mixing heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
Place ½ of the cake in the bottom of a trifle bowl, pressing down slightly. Drizzle with ½ the kirsch if using.
Top with half of the pudding, then half of the cherries and half of the whipped cream. Repeat layers ending with whipped cream.
Cover and chill in the fridge for 1-4 hours or overnight for best results.
Before serving, garnish with fresh cherries, chocolate sprinkles, or shaved chocolate if desired. Serve chilled.
