Equipment

  • Mandoline
  • baking sheet

Ingredients

  • 1 small onion
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375℉ and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Peel the onion and slice it into thin rings using a mandoline or a sharp knife.
  • On the prepared baking sheet, create small mounds of shredded cheese (about 2 tablespoons each), spaced 2 inches apart.
  • Place one onion slice on top of each cheese mound.
  • Lightly sprinkle each with garlic powder and paprika.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is crispy around the edges and the onions are golden.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool completely before serving or storing.

Notes

Line the baking sheet with parchment for easy cleanup. After baking, place a cutting board on top and flip the pan to lift chips easily. Slice onions evenly with a mandoline or sharp knife. Thick slices won’t cook through or get crispy. Let chips cool completely for the best crunch.
