Equipment

  • oven
  • large bowl
  • baking sheet
  • saucepan

Ingredients

Meatball Mixture

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • cup ketchup
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Sauce

  • 1 can (16 ounces) jellied cranberry sauce
  • 1 bottle (18 ounces) BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Mix ground beef, bread crumbs, ketchup, eggs, soy sauce, black pepper, and garlic powder in a large bowl until well combined. Shape into small meatballs and arrange on a nonstick baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until browned, about 30 minutes, turning once.
  • Meanwhile, combine cranberry sauce, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, and lemon juice in a large saucepan; heat and stir over low heat until smooth. Add meatballs and simmer for 1 hour. Serve warm.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, simmer the meatballs uncovered for the last 15 minutes. To keep warm for serving at a party, transfer the meatballs to a slow cooker and keep on the Low setting.
