Ingredients
  

For the brownies

  • 1.25 cups sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream (preferably Daisy)
  • 0.5 cup butter (softened to room temperature)
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 bananas (mashed until smooth)
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour (preferably King Arthur)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.75 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup walnuts (chopped into ¼-inch pieces)
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the frosting

  • 0.5 cup butter (melted and browned)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 1.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoon milk

  • Heat your oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, sugar, and sour cream, beating until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the mashed bananas and 2 teaspoon vanilla extract until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Add this dry mixture to the banana mixture and mix gently. Fold in the chopped walnuts.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
  • Melt the ½ cup butter in a saucepan until golden brown and nutty, then whisk in the sifted powdered sugar, 1.5 teaspoon vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  • Spread the warm brown butter frosting over the brownies immediately after removing from oven. Let cool completely before cutting.

Notes
